Russia and the United States are set conduct their first data swap of strategic nuclear arsenal data under the New START Treaty on March 22. The countries last swapped nuclear arsenal data in July 2009. The data swap will include much more detailed information than previous treaties required.
“We will be using a unique identifying number to sign each missile, sea launcher, intercontinental missile, ground base system or bomber,” the official said. “They will have [a] unique identifier that will be included in all notifications about their movement, deployment status.”
